World Wrestling Wilma, Roller Derby Kay, and Mud Pit Prissy
all asked me out to play.
I answered, "You've got to be kidding, I'm far too busy today."
As I was walking my baby along the road,
Roller Kay came up, knocked me over, off she rolled.
Cackling and laughing, she said "Take that!"
Furious and ruffled I picked up my hat,
filed a harassment complaint, and despised her, "That cat!"
As I was buying my health food, out came Miss Priss,
she threw mud in my face after saying, "Take this!"
"How dare you!" I cried. "What a cheap shot!"
"You mud-slinging ninny! What you are I am not!"
And then, I was singing, so good, sweet and low,
with a church filled with singers, the ones "in the know."
Suddenly, in through the door does appear
World Wrestling Wilma dressed in full gear!
"I want you!" She hollered as she points in my face,
"Let's take it outside! You're a joke, a disgrace!"
I quivered, I panicked, I looked round for help.
Wide-eyed, embarrassed the witnesses felt.
"She obviously knows you. Maybe you should go.
We certainly didn't build this church for your kind of show."
There I sat, felt forsaken, hugging my knees,
begging God to help me, sure enough He answered, "If you please,
take a good long look at yourself, my child.
You've been mud-slinging, wrestling, and pushing for awhile.
The only real difference between you and them
is that you deny that you show the same wild skin.
Of course they see you as an opponent for sport....
now stop being afraid, Wild Grape Wonder Girl!"
The next time they came round and asked me to play,
I won't deny, there was some dismay.
But, sure enough, there sitting on my closet shelf
were skates, spandex, and a WW belt!
I sat down, I laughed at myself 'til I cried,
and what do you know? They laughed and cried by my side.
"Oh ladies, you've done it. You've shown me myself,
or at least an aspect I'd hidden in the dark, on the shelf.
I really do want to come out and play.
I really do want to enjoy the day.
Can we walk?
Can we talk?
Can we share a laugh?
Can we fight for a cause without wearing all that?
The cause of kinship, the cause of friends,
the cause of love, and of happy "the ends?"
